Meet the Department Night
Do you want to know more about the Department of Communication? Early in the Fall semester, we give you the opportunity to do just that! Come out to meet the Communication Leaders, faculty members in the department, and advisors. You will have the opportunity to learn about all aspects of the Communication major, from classes offered to what you can do with the degree. If you are interested in becoming a Communication major or simply wanting to know more about the department, come out to Meet the Department Night!
Graduate School Career Spotlight
Pondering the idea of graduate school? Our Graduate School Spotlight Event covers how you can further your undergraduate Communication degree to the next level. This event his hosted during the Fall semester. The night includes speakers from the UIUC Law School, the UIUC Labor and Employment Relations program, and the UIUC Department of Communication. Advisors of each program give you logistics of the graduate degree and tips on applying, while the graduate students give insight into their personal experiences and perspectives of their degree. The night is packed with valuable information for anyone considering the path of graduate school.
Internship Preparation Night
Internship Prep Night occurred on Wednesday, February 22nd. It was an extremely successful event, thank you to those that were in attendance! The night included two presentations on Internship Essentials from The Career Center, resume critiques courtesy of The Career Center, a presentation on successful interviewing, and a panel of student interns. The Internship Program Office was also in attendance to answer any questions students may have about finding or obtaining credit for an internship experience. If you are looking to find a valuable internship opportunity, Internship Prep Night is the place to start!
Event Planning Spotlight
Save the date!
On March 7th, the Communication Leaders will be hosting an Event Planning Career Spotlight in Greg 223 from 6:30-8pm.Â Students will have a chance to listen to a panel of Event Planning professionals with a wide variety of interests share their stories and what they do. In addition, there will be time for a question and answer session with the panelists.Â Make sure to stay for refreshments and a chance to have an informal conversation with any of our panelists.Â This is an informal panel, so dress is casual.
Spring Social Event for All Majors
The Spring Social is an event put on by the Communication Leaders that is open to the entire department. It is an occasion during which all majors, graduate students, professors, and other faculty can come out get some food and spend time meeting and talking with each other. This is also the first opportunity for new leaders to meet and get to know the current and graduating members.
