Biography
Victor (Syuan-Li) Renn is a 4th-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Communication at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He focuses on using computational methods to extract meaningful information from digitalized news articles, including but not limited to news events, news sources, and news locations. In terms of substantive research questions, he explores how the production of foreign news is influenced by authoritarian countries and the temporal changes in the coverage and content of local news, with a geographical focus in the US.
