David M Tokarz
David is a PhD candidate in the Department of Communication. His research focuses on the interplay between social movements and institutions, and his dissertation project, part of his broader interests in how conservatives in the mid-twentieth century responded to issues of race and social change, explores four Senate filibusters against civil rights legislation.
David is also working on projects related to President Richard Nixon and the War on Drugs, and American Red Cross founder Clara Barton's post-Civil War lyceum lectures.
